Thank you for your interest in Conifer Family
Therapy. I'd like to take this opportunity to tell you a little bit about myself and my view of the world. First
of all, what do all those letters mean at the end of my name! I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Licensed
Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) and a level three Certified Addictions Counselor (CAC III).
I believe that every individual, couple and family has its own
unique strengths that are sometimes hard to remember when feeling overwhelmed and alone.
Humor is a large part of who I am and how I interact with people. That does not
mean that every session is a laugh-fest! Humor, like anything else, has its time and place.
My
name may seem familiar to you due to the fact that I worked in the office at Conifer High School from its opening in 1996
until 2005. My family and I have lived in the Conifer/Evergreen area for the last 40+ years and my children attended
all of the local schools.
I have worked with teenagers and their families for the
last 20 years in many different capacities. For 5 years I worked with teenagers and families struggling with multiple
problems that resulted in their involvement with probation and/or social services. I retired from this position in July
of 2012 to focus on my private practice.
As a Level
III Certified Addiction Counselor, I have worked in the substance abuse field for many years. If you are struggling
with issues involving drugs and/or alcohol and are looking for a change, contact me and we can explore options together.
Through my affiliation with
the Denver Family Institute, I completed all of the hours and additional course work necessary to become a Licensed Marriage
and Family Therapist. Clients tell me that some of the things that they appreciate about me are my sense of humor, compassion
and non-judgmental attitude.
I understand what a big step it can be to decide on a therapist,
therefore, I offer an initial 30 minute session at no charge as an opportunity for us to decide if we are a good
fit or to provide you with additional resources to access.
FEES and Insurance
My hourly fee is $170 and, although I do not take insurance I
will be happy to provide whatever documentation is necessary for you to submit a claim to your insurance. I accept credit
cards, checks or Venmo. If you pay byVenmo or check, I offer a discounted fee of $160. If my fee is a barrier to obtaining
treatment, please let me know and I will gladly discuss other possible arrangements.
I enjoy working with families, couples and adolescents and
use a strengths-based approach in my practice.
If you are interested in making an appointment, you can call or text
me me at 303-990-2696 or email me at jpalan@coniferfamilytherapy.com. I am a virtual only practice and offer appointments
through Zoom.
